Over the years, I’ve learned that being an artist isn’t about hitting one big milestone—it’s about constant growth, embracing uncertainty, and finding new ways to create when things don’t go as planned.
Hi Prince, ty so much for your words. First, I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing anyone is awful but losing grandparents almost seems like losing parts of yourself. Second, I believe when you're a writer you MUST continue to engage with the world because unless we experience the world, it will be difficult to know ourselves and to share ourselves and what we've learned with others. I'm (still) working on my first novel (which has been an ongoing process for the last three years). But I'm happier because I feel I've been learning so much that has shown up in my work and I see the progression. I'm a writer. Period. And so are you. So maybe you self-publish this book and traditionally publish the next. There are no "rules" about how you need to publish your work. The ultimate goal should be to share what you've written. For the last few months, I've been on a spiritual journey. And to be honest, it's helped in my writing. This is the path I'm taking right now, and it works for me (which is all that really matters). Do what works for YOU. Your path of traveling, teaching, doing your podcast and even swimming are what you instinctively need to do to fulfill that "shift" you need in your life (and it will show up in your writing as well). Again, I can go on and on but I'm excited for anything you write. Please keep us up to date when the book comes out! God Bless.
