Fellowships
2024 EYEBEAM FELLOWSHIP OPEN CALL | Due October 1
“We are amid a global tech emergency; the act of discovery and creation by artists is more necessary than ever. In this digital-first fellowship cycle beginning February 15, 2024, through August 15, 2024, we call on artists to bring their innate mental, spiritual, and physical aspects of what it means to be human into play with technology to affirm humanity’s role as creators, not spectators, of our collective techno-future.”
Clark Fellowship | Due October 15
“Scholars may propose topics that relate to the visual arts, their history, practice, theory, or interpretation. Any proposal that contributes to understanding the nature of artistic activity and the intellectual, social, and cultural worlds with which it is connected is welcome. Attention will be given to proposals that promise to deepen, transform, or challenge those methods currently practiced within art history or that have the prospect of enhancing an understanding of the role of images in other disciplines in the humanities. All fellowships are intended to nurture a variety of disciplinary approaches and support new voices in art history.”
Residencies
Monsoon Arts in Maine | Due September 15
“Monson Arts’ residency program supports emerging and established artists and writers by providing them time and space to devote to their creative practices. During each of our 2-week and 4-week programs throughout the year, a cohort of 5 artists and 5 writers are invited to immerse themselves in small town life at the edge of Maine’s North Woods and focus intensely on their work within a creative and inspiring environment. They receive a private studio, private bedroom in shared housing, all meals, and $1,000 stipend ($500 for 2-week programs).”
Millay Arts in New York | Due October 1
“Our historic fully-subsidized residency features a creative cohort of 6-7 multidisciplinary artists, selected through our blind jury process, and includes private bedroom and studio (with bedding/linens), shared living spaces, laundry room, workstation, B&W darkroom and use of our Alumni and Nancy Graves Memorial libraries. Groceries are provided along with communal dinners (prepared by our in-house chef).
Workspace Artists-in-Residence | Due October 2
“Each year, Center for Book Arts awards up to five New York-based emerging artists with space, time, and financial support to explore the production and exhibition of artists’ books and related work in a year-long residency. This program promotes experimentation in making book art—thus artists from all disciplinary backgrounds are encouraged to apply. CBA especially encourages applications from artists of culturally diverse backgrounds.
Mesa Refuge in California | Due December 1
“The Mesa Refuge houses three writers at a time. The common areas include a Gathering Room, kitchen, patio and gardens. The house is well equipped for the needs of retreating writers and other creatives. We provide some meals and supplies. Beyond that, each group of residents decides how they would like to handle meals, cooking or eating in one of the excellent local restaurants in West Marin. Find out more about the restaurants, shops, activities and services in our community here.”
RAIR Residency | Due October 22
“RAIR has 2 residency programs: THE STANDARD RESIDENCY and THE BIGGIE SHORTIE. Both are given access to Revolution Recovery’s waste stream as well as access to RAIR’s staff- who work closely with all residents.”
MOAB ARTS REUSE RESIDENCY | Due October 31
“Through a 4-week residency, the program offers artists housing, studio space, project and community facilitation, a stipend, and access to materials at local waste disposal sites.
