CALLS FOR PITCHES
NIEMAN LAB wants pitches “related to how journalism can figure out its future in the internet age” for $400 for 800 to 1,000 words.
AUTOSTRADDLE is looking to hire new writers; able to write a minimum of three posts per month, less than 1,000 words each. Pay is per stable for $80 to $200 each.
PASTE MAGAZINE wants to freelance writers with pitch ideas about food. $100 for 800 to 1,000 words.

Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts Residency offers “2 to 8 week residency offers a $100 weekly stipend, free housing, and a private studio. Established and emerging visual artists, writers, composers, and interdisciplinary artists from across the country and around the world are eligible to apply.” | Application fee is $20. FIRE ISLAND RESIDENCY is “for artists identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, intersex, two-spirit or queer, is accepting applications for its summer program. Artists will share a live/work space for four-weeks in the secluded beach community of Cherry Grove, NY, an historic LGBTQ settlement. Application fee: $40.” DUE APRIL 15
MILLAY ARTS COLONY RESIDENCY has an application that is due March 1st. | “Our historic fully-subsidized residency, includes a creative cohort of 6-7 other multidisciplinary creators, selected through our blind jury process. Includes private bedrooms and studios (with bedding/linens), shared living spaces, laundry room, workstation, B&W darkroom and use of our Alumni and Nancy Graves Memorial libraries. Groceries are also provided along with communal dinners (prepared by our in-house chef).
FELLOWSHIPS AND GRANTS
FACING SOUTH Summer Internship seeks “to support the Institute’s research and media projects covering a range of critical issues in the South.” Interns will receive work full-time for 8 weeks and receive a $250 weekly student. Remote and in-person internships are available. Due MARCH 4.
CREATIVE CAPITAL is offering WILD FUTURES grants. To learn more and apply. | “Awardees receive direct project funding in varying amounts up to $50,000, advisory services, and a community of fellow awardees and other professionals who may provide additional support for the project. We encourage a spirit of mutual generosity among our awardees and seek to foster exchange through our artist gatherings.”
SUSTAINABLE ARTS FOUNDATION AWARDS of $5,000 “are offered “to twenty artists and writers with at least one child under the age of 18 and a strong portfolio. At least half of the awards will go to applicants of color. Application fee: $20.”
